Anglin, Margaret (1876–1958)
Canadian-born American actress. Born in Ottawa, Canada, in 1876; died in 1958; daughter of Honorable Timothy Warren Anglin (speaker of the Canadian House of Commons); sister of Francis A. Anglin, a Canadian supreme court judge; studied in New York; married Howard Hull, in 1911.
Margaret Anglin scored her first success as Roxane in Richard Mansfield's presentation of Cyrano de Bergerac. After playing in a number of important American productions, including Camille (1903–04), Zira (1905–06), and The Great Divide (1906–07), she toured Australia in 1908, appearing in Shakespearean roles. In her later years, her revivals of the Greek tragedies distinguished her as a dramatic artist of rare ability. She also played the lead in Margaret Deland 's The Awakening of Helena Richie.
