New Zealand poet and short-story writer. Name variations: Jacqueline Cecilia Sturm. Born 1927 in Opunake, New Zealand; m. James K. Baxter, 1948.

Maori writer, published stories and poetry in magazines and anthologies; best known for story collection, The House of the Talking Cat (1985), also wrote Dedications (1996) and Postscripts (2000); poems collected in How Things Are (1996).
