Sturm, George
Sturm, George, German-born American music administrator and writer on music; b. Augsburg, March 13, 1930. He settled in the U.S. and became a naturalized American citizen. He was educated at Queens Coll. in N.Y. (B.A., 1952) and at Princeton Univ. (M.F.A., 1955), and then was a student of Luigi Dallapiccola in Florence on a Fulbright grant (1955-57). After working for G. Schirmer/AMP in N.Y. (1958-77), he was vice-president of European American Music (1977-79). In 1980 he became executive director of Music Associates of America, where he was an ed. and a contributor to its publication MadAminA!
