Quin, Ann (1936–1973)

British novelist. Born 1936 in Brighton, Sussex, England; committed suicide, 1973; dau. of Ann Reid Quin.

Struggled with mental illness and was hospitalized for depression throughout her adult life; wrote experimental novels about death and mental illness: Berg (1964), Three (1966), Tripticks (1972), and Passages (1973); novel, The Unmapped Country, was unfinished at time of her suicide drowning.
