At Barcelona Olympics, won a bronze medal in the 100 meters and a silver medal in the 4 × 100-meter relay (1992); at age 31, attempting a new event, won a gold medal for 400-meter hurdles as well as a bronze for the 4 × 400-meter relay at Sydney Olympics (2000); at European championships, won gold medals for 100 and 200 meters (1994) and gold for 200 meters (1998).
