Partridge, Frances (1900–2004)
English memoirist. Name variations: Frances Marshall. Born Frances Catherine Marshall, Mar 28, 1900, in London, England; died Feb 5, 2004; dau. of Eleanor and William Marshall (architect); graduate of Newnham College; m. Ralph Partridge, 1932 (died 1960); children: Burgo (died 1963).
Taken in by the Bloomsbury group, became an intimate of Lytton Strachey, Dora Carrington and Ralph Partridge at Ham Spray; after Strachey and Carrington died, married Partridge and continued to live at Ham Spray; at 78, began publishing her diaries, the 1st being A Pacificst's War (1978), followed by Memories (1981), Everything to Lose (1986) and Ups and Downs (2001), among others; also wrote Julia (1983), about the life of Julia Strachey.
