Moore, Julia A. (1847–1920)

American poet. Born Julia Ann Davis, Dec 1, 1847, in Plainfield, Michigan; died 1920; m. Frederick Franklin Moore, 1864; children: 10.

Known as "The Sweet Singer of Michigan," inspired Mark Twain's character Emmeline Grangerford in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn; published sentimental poetry in collections The Sweet Singer of Michigan Salutes the Public (1876, republished as The Sentimental Song Book) and A Few Words to the Public (1878).
