German luge athlete. Born Oct 10, 1970 in Germany.
Won a gold medal for singles luge at Nagano Olympics by two-thousandths of a second (1998), the closest luge race in Olympic history; won a bronze medal for singles luge at Salt Lake City Olympics (2002) and a silver medal for singles luge at Torino Olympics (2006); won the singles World championship (2004) and European championships (1998, 2004, 2006).
