Kinnan, Mary (1763–1848)

American memoirist. Born 1763 in Virginia; died Mar 12, 1848, in NJ.

Captured by Shawnees (1791) and held for 3 years; after being freed, settled in New Jersey and wrote account of survival, True Narrative of the Sufferings of Mary Kinnan, Who Was Taken Prisoner by the Shawanee Nation of Indians (1795).
