Irish politician. Born Gemma Moran, Nov 1938, in Bray, Co. Wicklow, Ireland; m. Dermot R. Hussey; children: 2 daughters, 1 son.

Was founder director of the English Language Institute, Dublin; entered the Seanad (1977) as in Independent with background in the women's movement; representing Fine Gael, elected to the 23rd Dáil (1982–82) for Wicklow; returned to 24th-25th Dáil (1982–89); served as minister for Education (1982–86) and minister for Social Welfare (1986–87); defeated in the general election (1989) and retired.
