Gunn, Jeannie (1870–1961)
Australian novelist. Name variations: Mrs. Aeneas Gunn. Born Jeannie Taylor on June 5, 1870, in Carlton, Victoria, Australia; died June 9, 1961, in Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia; m. Aeneas Gunn, 1901 (died 1903).
During WWI, became active in welfare work for soldiers and continued work for returned soldiers and sailors; writings include The Little Black Princess (1905) and We of the Never Never (1908); also wrote My Boys—A Book of Remembrances (2000) about soldiers of Anglo-Boer War, Boxer Rebellion, and WWI. Received OBE (1939) for contribution to Australian literature and work for disabled soldiers.
