Gardner, Suzi (1960–)

American rock musician. Name variations: L7. Born Aug 1, 1960, in Altus, Oklahoma.

Guitarist and singer, joined forces with Donita Sparks (1985); enlisted bassist Jennifer Finch (1986) and drummer Roy Koutsky to form punk-metal rock band L7; with group, released self-titled debut album on Epitaph Records (1988); added Demetra (Dee) Plakas (1988) to band as drummer, replacing Koutsky; toured US and Britain (1988) as opening act for Nirvana; signed with Sup Pop Records and released Smell the Magic (1990) and hit single "Shove/Packin' A Rod"; had major success with Bricks Are Heavy (1992) on Slash records, featuring international pop hit "Pretend We're Dead"; after Finch went solo (1996), added bass player Gail Greenwood for album The Beauty Process: Triple Platinum (1997) which also featured Greta Brinkman; released Omaha to Osaka, International Pop Underground Convention (1991), Virus 100 (1992) and Slap Happy; appeared in mockumentary The Beauty Process (1998).
