Born Elizabeth Mary Fitz-Simon Thomas, Dec 18, 1922; trained at King's College Medical School in London and West London Hospital; m. Dr. John Clubb (physician), 1948; children: Dr. Cecilia Pyper (doctor).
Expert in family planning, had large Oxford-based general practice with husband, then with Dr. Robert Harvard, and later with daughter; served as a Natural Family Planning Service of the Catholic Marriage Advisory Council (CMAC) medical adviser (1953–90); worked as medical director of Natural Family Planning Service of CMAC (later Marriage Care, 1990–97); taught symptothermal method to patients to spread awareness of personal fertility patterns and peaks; obtained university accreditation for nurses for National Health Service (NHS) natural planning courses; was a Royal College of General Practitioners founding member (1953) and elected fellow (1986).
