Photobacterium

Photobacterium (family Vibrionaceae) A genus of Gram-negative bacteria in which the cells are rod-shaped and typically motile. They are chemo-organotrophic, and can grow in the presence or absence of air. Under appropriate conditions at least some species can emit light. They are found in marine environments and in the luminous organs of certain fish and cephalopods.
