Vibrionaceae A family of Gram-negative bacteria in which the cells are straight or curved rods, and are typically motile with 1 or more flagella at 1 end. There are several genera, found as saprotrophs in freshwater or marine environments, and in association with aquatic animals; the family also includes some important pathogens of humans and other animals.
