Monoblastozoa
Monoblastozoa A phylum proposed by R. Blackwelder in 1963 to contain a single species, Salinella salve, which was found in water from a salt mine in Argentina and was described by J. Frenzel in 1892. The organism consists of a single layer of cells surrounding a gut with mouth and anus; the mouth is surrounded by long cilia and body cells are ciliated both internally and externally. Individuals conjugate (conjugation) to produce cysts.
