allogenic stream A stream that originates outside a particular area and whose continuation is inconsistent with its new surroundings. Type examples are the Nile and the Indus, whose discharges are sufficient to carry them through arid regions, and the Neretva in Bosnia Hercegovina, which is large enough to pass over permeable limestone.
