TEITELBAUM, ABRAHAM

TEITELBAUM, ABRAHAM (1889–1947), Yiddish and English actor. Born in Warsaw, Teitelbaum worked in London with Maurice *Moscovitch. This led to his appearance in English in a West End production of *Cumberland's The Jew, and Daughters of Shem by Samuel Gordon and Carmel Goldsmid. After World War i he joined the *Vilna Troupe, and staged Eugene O'Neil's Desire under the Elms and Strindberg's The Father. In 1919 he went to New York and the rest of his career was spent at Schwartz's Jewish Art Theater.
