PARTE SAIZ, ALFREDO, BL.
Martyr, priest of the Order of Poor Clerics Regular of the Mother of God of the Pious Schools (Piarists); b. June 1, 1899 in Cilleruelo de Bricia, Burgos, Spain; d. Dec. 27, 1936. Alfredo Parte was a priest from the Collegio Villacarriedo. In mid-August 1936, he fled to his uncle's home in Santander. On November 15 he was seized. He consoled his fellow prisoners and endured his suffering with patience until he was executed by gunfire. He was beatified on Oct. 1, 1995 by Pope John Paul II together with 12 other Piarists (see pamplona, dionisio and companions, bb.).
Feast: Sept. 22.
