Margalit, Meir
MARGALIT, MEIR
MARGALIT, MEIR (1906–1974), actor. Born in Ostroleka, Poland, Margalit immigrated to Ereẓ Israel in 1921 and worked as a laborer in the *Gedud ha-Avodah. He began to appear on the stage as an amateur in his school days and was a member of the drama circle of the Gedud formed by Manya Arnon. He joined the Ohel studio established by the Cultural Committee and became one of its first members when it became the *Ohel theater. In his long acting career he played leading roles. He received the Israel Prize for arts in 1964.
