Jordanites
Jordanites or White Robed Army. A religious group located along the coast of Guyana. It traces its beginnings to Joseph MacLaren, an Anglican Grenadian, who from 1895 preached ‘pure Protestantism’ from the Bible in Guyana. This led to the establishment of the West Evangelist Millennial Pilgrim Church, but the main founder was E. N. Jordan (d. 1928), who was ‘called’ to join in 1917 through visions. Their beliefs combine Hindu (reincarnation), Jewish, Christian, African and occult elements.
