Aṇuvrata Movement, (Skt., aṇu, ‘lesser’, + vrata, ‘vows’). Indian moral revival movement based on the anuvrata vows of Jains. Founded in 1948 by Acharya Tul(a)si, head of the Jain Śvetāmbara Terāpantha sect, the movement aims to purge corruption and uplift the moral tone of the life. To further these goals, an international branch of the movement was established in Jaipur in 1984. See further BHIKṢU, ĀCĀRYA.
