Emilio Prados (āmē´lyō prä´ŧħōs), 1899–1962, Spanish poet, b. Málaga. After 1939 he lived in Mexico, and his post–civil war lyrics decry the anguish, death, and injustice of that upheaval. A literary associate of Manuel Altoaguirre, he cofounded the journal Litoral. His poetry is marked by the musicality and grace of the Andalusian school. Among his works are Romancero general de la guerra España [ballads of the war of Spain] (1937), Jardín cerrado [closed garden] (1946), and La piedra escrita [written stone] (1961).
