David Pearson, 1934–, American auto racing driver, b. Spartanburg, S.C. In a 27-year National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing career (1960–86), the "Silver Fox" won a total of 105 Cup Series races, second only to Richard Petty. Pearson, an amazingly consistent driver, accomplished this over only 574 races, and during his peak years in the 1960s, when he was NASCAR champion three times, he won 42 of 49 races in 1966, 48 of 49 in 1968, and 51 of 54 in 1969. Pearson was elected to the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2011.
