Stieng
Stieng
The Stieng (Budip, X. Tiêng) are a group of about 70,000 (1981) located in Song De Province in Vietnam and bordering areas of Cambodia. The population in Vietnam was enumerated at 50,194 in 1985. Swidden rice cultivation is the primary economic activity, supplemented by hunting and fishing. The Stieng lack any sort of tribal-level political organization, with each family constituting the basic social and political units. Similarly, religious beliefs focusing on spirits are centered in the family, where all rituals are performed.
