Lara, Brian Charles
Lara, Brian Charles (1969– ) West Indian cricketer, b. Trinidad. A left-handed batsman, he made his debut for West Indies in 1990. In 1994, he scored 375 against England in Antigua, beating Gary Sobers record (set in 1957) of the most runs in a single test innings (365). Also in 1994, playing English county cricket for Warwickshire, Lara scored a first-class record of 501 not out against Durham. His captaincy (1997–99) of West Indies was less consistent.
