Born July 2, 1946, in New York, NY; son of Irving Roy (in clothing sales) and May (a teacher; maiden name, Zimelman; some sources spell first name as Mae) Silver; married Lynne Miller (an editor), December 24, 1975 (divorced, July, 1997); children: Adam, Alexandra. Education: Buffalo State College, State University of New York, B.A., 1967; St. John's University, M.A.; studied law at Yale University, 1991, and studied in Spain and Taiwan; trained for the stage at Herbert Berghof Studios with Uta Hagen and at the Actors Studio with Lee Strasberg.
