Independent, 4-year, coed, affiliated with United Church of Christ. Awards bachelor's degrees. Founded 1862. Setting: 15-acre urban campus. Endowment: $10 million. Research spending 2003-04: $100,000. Educational spending 2003-04: $6000 per student. Total enrollment: 852. Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 17:1. 1,127 applied, 39% were admitted. Full-time: 733 students, 72% women, 28% men. Part-time: 119 students, 76% women, 24% men. Collegiate Environment:

Orientation program. Drama-theater group, choral group, student-run newspaper. Social organizations: 26 open to all; national fraternities, national sororities; 35% of eligible men and 65% of eligible women are members. Most popular organizations: Students in Free Enterprise, National Black Student Accountant Club, gospel choir, pre-alumni organization.
