Bellevue University is one of Nebraska's largest fully accredited independent colleges. Programs serve the needs of more than 5,900 students annually and cater to working adult students as well as traditional undergraduate students. Benefits include accelerated degree completion programs, online programs, an online library, and cooperative credit transfer agreements. Associate degrees are accepted in full, and credit is given for corporate and military training as well as life experience.

Delivery Media

Online education is about taking classes and earning a degree entirely through the Internet. With Internet access, students go online to take classes, participate in discussions with professors and fellow students, conduct research at the online library, and interact with their online adviser. Programs of Study

Undergraduate programs are offered in an accelerated, cohort-based format. The program in business administration of technical studies emphasizes techniques, procedures, and methods for managing the technical functions of business. The business information systems program prepares students who do not have computer technology degrees or course work for management within information technology (IT) and positions with technical applications. The corrections administration and management program provides students the skills and knowledge necessary for the professional oversight of modern correctional programs. The program in criminal justice administration focuses on management and opportunities in the criminal justice system. The program is designed for individuals working in, or closely associated with, the criminal justice system. The health-care management program provides a systems perspective for those interested in pursuing management opportunities in health care. The program in management of health-care informatics is designed for students interested in the management of electronic records and information in the health-care arena. The program in Internet systems and software technology provides a comprehensive study of the information technology industry. Topics are included in an integrated format built around a common project management theme. The leadership program provides students the theoretical and practical preparation they need to assume positions of leadership in the professional ranks of organizations. The management program gives students a comprehensive background in the skills, methods, and theories that undergird all effective management. The management of human resources program covers methods and practices of the human resource management professional. The management information systems program emphasizes business knowledge and management skills for individuals working in the management information systems field. The security management program provides students with the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for a career in the security field. The strengths-based management program focuses on management issues as they relate to the Gallup Organization's talent-based management principles. The marketing management program emphasizes the techniques and methods of managing and planning in marketing. The focus is on proven practices and application of theory. The logistics management program is designed for individuals interested in, or already working in, the field of logistics management and supply chain management.

The Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program covers the tools and methods required to run a business. The program requires 36 credit hours of course work. The schedule of course offerings permits an individual working full-time to complete all the requirements for the M.B.A. degree in eighteen months (two classes per term). Students who do not have an undergraduate degree in business generally take the Foundation (9 credits), the core (18 credits), and a concentration (9 credits) to complete the degree. M.B.A. concentrations are offered in accounting, advance programming, finance, health care, human resource management, interdisciplinary business, international management, management information systems, marketing, and supply chain management. The Master of Science in computer information systems program has strong elements of both business and computer/telecommunication subjects. Students with business or computer undergraduate preparation typically finish the program with 36 credits of graduate work. For students without a computer background, there are 9 additional prerequisite credits. The Master of Science in management of information systems was created for midlevel IT managers and future chief information officers who need to keep pace with the rapidly changing world of enterprise technology. The program requires 36 hours of course work. The Master in Health-Care Administration (M.H.A.) program provides clinical health-care providers with an opportunity to pursue in depth the various areas of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling as they provide administrative guidance to others within their health-related organization. Students in the Master of Arts in management program develop a working knowledge of the application of quantitative techniques, marketing analysis, human resource management, financial analysis, influencing behavior in organizations, and sensitivity to the legal environment in which operations occur. The Master of Arts in leadership program encourages individual thought, synthesis of group contribution, and assimilation of practical and theoretical teachings. Its mission is to combine leadership philosophy, derived from great leaders and their writings, with concepts and theoretical models of organizational leadership. The Master of Arts and the Master of Science in communication studies programs address competencies in the areas of critical thinking, research, professional and social skills, diversity and intercultural communication, applied theory, leadership, and emotional intelligence. The programs are designed to produce graduates who can bridge the modern workplace communication gap, meet internal training and development needs, and identify and utilize effective skills to address important communication issues inherent in all work environments. The Master of Science in security management prepares students to function effectively at the director level in a broad spectrum of homeland security and related occupations. The Master of Science in instructional design prepares students to be a master educator in the application of instructional technology for both online and traditional classrooms, emphasizing the integration of theory and practice.

Credit Options

Bellevue University grants credit for college-level learning that a student has obtained through sources other than college classes. Students may be granted credit for college-level learning acquired outside of a regionally accredited college setting. Procedures are in place to assess student learning from non–regionally accredited institutions, American Council on Education recommendations, corporate training or programs, CLEP/DANTES tests, and the Experiential Learning Assessment.

Faculty

The Bellevue University full-time and adjunct faculty consists of 398 full- and part-time members who teach students from freshman to graduate level. The student-faculty ratio is 15:1. For most classes and programs, Bellevue University employs adjunct faculty members who are professionals in their respective fields. Faculty members are screened to ensure each is current on issues and technology.

Admission

Online degree completion programs are offered in an accelerated format. To qualify for undergraduate programs, students must have at least 60 credit hours from an accredited institution or an associate degree. To qualify for graduate programs, students must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, a minimum 2.5 GPA over the course of the last two years of undergraduate work, two letters of recommendation, and a completed essay.

Tuition and Fees

Online undergraduate tuition for a 36-hour major program is $10,620; for the 9-hour Signature Series, it is $2655. Undergraduate fees include the nonrefundable application/assessment fee, $50; student fees, $150; and graduation fees, $75. The estimated total cost for an online undergraduate program is $13,550. This figure excludes the cost of books.

Tuition for the graduate online programs is as follows: the Master of Business Administration and the Master of Science in computer information systems, $340 per credit hour; the Master of Arts in leadership and the Master of Arts in management, $12,240 or $340 per credit hour (excluding books); and the Master in Health-Care Administration, $12,240. The application fee is $50 and the graduation fee is $75 for all online graduate programs. The general college fee is $45 per semester for the M.B.A. and the M.S. in computer information systems programs and $150 for the M.A. in management, the M.A. in leadership, and the Master in Health-Care Administration.

Financial Aid

Financial aid assists students with the costs of attending college. This assistance comes from the federal and state government, the institution, and private sources. Financial aid includes grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and student loans. Grants and scholarships do not have to be repaid.

Applying

Individuals interested in applying should transmit the application online or by mail, pay fees, and submit transcripts for evaluation. Admissions counselors work with students to complete the official admissions process. An educational degree plan is completed for each student, defining the requirements needed to achieve each student's degree goal.
