AIChE/Donald F. and Mildred Topp Oth-mer National Scholarship Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for AIChE national student members for their undergraduate education in chemical engineering. Focus: Engineering, Chemical. Qua-lif.: Nominees must be AIChE national student members at the time of the nomination. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic record; participation in AIChE Student Chapter and other professional activities as outlined by the Student Chapter Advisor in their nomination letter; support of the nominee by the Student Chapter Advisor; and nominees' career objectives and plans as outlined in their letter.

Funds Avail.: $15,000. To Apply: Nominators must submit completed nomination form; letter of nomination from the AIChE Student Chapter Advisor containing, but not limited to, the following: a) verification of the nominees' GPAs and projected completion date; b) an evaluation of the nominees' academic performance and participation in AIChE Student Chapter and other professional activities; statement from the nominees (not to exceed 300 words) outlining their career plans and objectives in chemical engineering and including, but not limited to, the following: a) immediate plans after graduation and area(s) of chemical engineering of most interest; b) long-range career objectives. Deadline: May 16.

John J. McKetta Undergraduate Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for chemical engineering undergraduate students planning a career in the chemical engineering process industries. Focus: Engineering, Chemical. Qualif.: Nominees must be national student members of AIChE attending an ABET accredited schools in the US, Canada or Mexico who are in their junior or senior year of a 4-year program in Chemical Engineering or equivalent for a 5-year co-op program. Nominees must have maintained a minimum of 3.0/4.0 GPA. Criteria: Preference is given to nominees from Mexican universities participating in ABET's Equivalent Education Program.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Nominees must submit a maximum two-page essay outlining career goals in the chemical engineering process industries (2 single-sided, single-spaced typed pages) and nominations must be accompanied by a minimum of two letters of recommendation, one from AIChE student advisor and the other from

either a departmental faculty member or technical work supervisor. Deadline: May 30.

Minority Scholarship Awards for College Students (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance for chemical engineering undergraduate students. Focus: Engineering, Chemical. Qualif.: Applicants must be AIChE national student members at the time of application. Criteria: Selection of recipients will be based on academic record, participation in AIChE student and professional activities, career objectives and financial need.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. Number Awarded: 10. To Apply: Nominations must be submitted containing the following items: from the students: a) a completed application form; b) a career essay not to exceed 300 words outlining the following: immediate plans after graduation and area(s) of chemical engineering of most interest; long-range career objectives; official transcript of college grades. Nominations from the college financial aid office must contain: a letter indicating that the student is eligible for financial aid based on their records; a letter of recommendation from the AIChE student chapter advisor, department chair, or chemical engineering faculty member containing, but not limited to, the following: verification of nominee's GPA and projected completion date; evaluation of the student's academic performance and participation in AIChE and other professional or civic activities. Deadline: May 15.

Minority Scholarship Awards for Incoming College Freshmen (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance for chemical engineering college freshmen. Focus: Engineering, Chemical. Qualif.: Applicants must be members of a minority group (i.e. African-American, Hispanic, Native American, or Alaskan Native) that is underrepresented in chemical engineering; must be high school graduates during the previous academic year and plan to enroll during the following academic year in a four-year university offering a science/engineering degree. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic record, participation in school and work activities, reason for choosing science or engineering, and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. Number Awarded: 10. To Apply: Nominations must be submitted containing the following items from the student: a) completed application form; b) career essay not to exceed 300 words outlining the following: (1) college or university chosen to attend, (2) reasons for choosing science/engineering, (3) possible career choices that may be of interest; c) official transcript of high school grades. Nominations must also include documents from the parent/guardian which should contain a letter verifying financial need which includes a list of financial resources for educational support; and a letter of recommendation from the high school counselor, math teacher or science teacher containing, but not limited to, the following: a) verification of student's GPA and graduation date; b) verification of high school senior class average grade (if confidential, high school counselor statement is required); c) confirmation of minority group of student; d) information about the student's school, job and/or other activities. Deadline: May 15.
