Stowell, Robert

Stowell, Robert (fl. 1452–d. 1505). English mason. He was Master of the Stonemasons at Windsor Castle, Berks. from 1452, and worked at Westminster Abbey from 1468, becoming Master-Mason in 1471. He probably designed the nave and aisles of St Margaret's Church, Westminster (1488–1504), by which time he was the King's Master-Mason. He carried out the vaults of three bays in the nave of the Abbey in 1488–9.
