Gardella, Ignazio
Gardella, Ignazio (1909–99). Italian architect. His work was steeped in Rationalism, and he made his name with the Anti-Tuberculosis Dispensary, Alessandria (1936–8). His Regina Isabella Thermal Baths, Lacco Ameno, Ischia (1950–3), and Gallery of Contemporary Art, Villa Reale, Milan (1951–4), were admired for their rigour and clarity. More recently, the School of Architecture, University of Genoa (1975–90), drew on traditional forms.
