Bossan, Pierre-Marie
Bossan, Pierre-Marie (1814–88). Lyons-born architect, a pupil of Labrouste. He was appointed Diocesan Architect of Lyons in 1844, and designed several revivalist buildings including the Church of St-Georges (1844). From 1852 he produced a series of churches in a Byzantinesque Neo-Grec style, including those at Couzon (1854–6), Ste-Philomène, Ars (1862–5), St-Jean-François Régis, Lalouvesc (1865), and the massive Notre-Dame-de-Fourvière, Lyons (1871–96), completed by Perrin.
