Bullet Trains
BULLET TRAINS
Japan's Shinkansen or bullet trains, inaugurated in 1964, were the world's first high-speed trains. Today, they can reach speeds of 300 kilometers per hour and are enormously popular. On average, more than 16 million passengers per day use the bullet trains in the eastern Honshu and Tokyo areas alone.
