Charcot's joint (neuropathic arthritis) n. an extreme form of osteoarthritis resulting from damage to the sensory nerves that supply a joint, which becomes unstable, swollen, and painless. Causes include diabetes mellitus, syringomyelia, tabes dorsalis, and leprosy. [ J. M. Charcot]
