Asherman syndrome (ash-er-măn) n. a condition in which amenorrhoea and infertility follow a major haemorrhage in pregnancy. It may result from overvigorous curettage of the uterus in an attempt to control the bleeding. This removes the lining, the walls adhere, and the cavity is obliterated to a greater or lesser degree. Compare Sheehan's syndrome.[ J. G. Asherman (20th century), Czechoslovakian gynaecologist]
