angiotensin II antagonist n. a drug that blocks the action of the hormone angiotensin II, which constricts blood vessels, and is therefore useful in treating hypertension. Such drugs include candesartan (Amias), irbesartan (Aprovel), losartan (Cozaar), telmisartan (Micardis), and valsartan (Diovan). They are taken by mouth.
