SIDELIGHTS: Farzin Yazdanfar once told CA: "I have been interested in the concerns of Iranian women, and Iranian women writers in particular, since the revolution of 1979 and the establishment of the Islamic Republic in Iran. I have coedited and cotranslated two collections of short stories by Iranian women authors. In the first collection, the stories cover a period from 1945 to 1989. The second collection includes stories written by more than a dozen Iranian women during the last eighteen or nineteen years. I am also interested in writing scholarly articles about the history of Iranian women in this century and the role of women writers in modern Persian literature. My primary goal is to introduce the post-revolutionary Iranian women fiction writers and their rapidly growing contributions to the western reader."
