Hanada Taha-Thomure told CA: "My first book came as a result of the doctoral research I conducted in 2000. The extensive amount of work and the fact that it was the first study of academic freedom in Arab universities prompted me to publish it.

"I am currently writing a beginning Arabic reading and writing curriculum based on Gardner's 'multiple intelligences theory' and Vygotsky's 'zone of proximal development' concept. Teaching Arabic for over twelve years in various parts of the Arab world and the United States led to work on this curriculum. There is an urgent need for modern, research-based, child-centered Arabic curricula."
