SIDELIGHTS: Doug Stevenson told CA: "I always wanted to be an actor. I fulfilled that dream at age nineteen by dropping out of college and enrolling in an acting class in Chicago. At twenty-two I hitchhiked to Hollywood to be a movie star. After thirteen years there, performing mostly on stage in everything from Snoopy to Shakespeare, I left and relocated to Colorado Springs, where I put my carpentry skills to use by selling houses instead of building them. In real estate I discovered professional speaking. That is where I developed my storytelling ability and, later, the Story Theater Method. My motivation for writing Never Be Boring Again is to inspire people to express themselves through storytelling more realistically, and therefore more theatrically. Boring speakers neuter themselves. Storytellers live their material."
