SIDELIGHTS: Ilana Shiloh told CA: "Although I'm an Israeli, I have studied American literature and culture most of my life. What I have always been interested in is contemporary literature; that's why I wrote my dissertation about Paul Auster. My main fields of interest are detective fiction, language and linguistics, psychoanalysis, and French existentialism; my favorite authors are Paul Auster, J. M. Coetzee, Flannery O'Connor, Graham Greene, and Albert Camus.
As a scholar, I write about things that I find ambiguous or intriguing; my current project is research into paradoxical metaphors in detective fiction and film. My book Paul Auster and Postmodern Quest received positive reviews." Kathie Birat, writing in Erea: Revue d'Études Anglophones, stated that the final chapter of Paul Auster and Postmodern Quest "makes the book well worth reading," adding that Shiloh's "method can produce new insights, by combining a careful and systematic approach with a broad knowledge of American and European culture."
