Music of this type of instrument gained a new audience in the early twenty-first century with the popularity of such albums as the top-charting, Grammy-winning O Brother Where Art Thou? soundtrack. In The Acoustic Guitar Guide: Everything You Need to Know to Buy and Maintain a New or Used Guitar, the author "covers different guitar woods and how they sound," wrote Library Journal reviewer Eric Shoaf. In 2002 the same reviewer assessed another Sandberg book for Library Journal, Acoustic Guitar Styles. While the printed work highlights the "rudiments" of the instrument, he said, the accompanying CD "best conveys the sense of how the music should sound, including the proper phrasing of passages."
