Sandby, Hermann
Sandby, Hermann , Danish cellist and composer; b. Kundby, March 21, 1881; d. Copenhagen, Dec. 14, 1965. After training in Copenhagen, he was a student of Hugo Becker (cello) and Iwan Knorr (composition) in Frankfurt am Main (1895–1900). He gave concerts in Europe before playing in the Philadelphia Orch. (1912–16). After living in N.Y. (1916–30), he returned to Denmark.
