SIDELIGHTS: Elizabeth E. Monteleone is a writer and editor who has collaborated with her husband, Thomas F. Monteleone, on a contribution to the "Borderlands" anthology series of dark fantasy fiction. Their co-edited Borderlands 5: An Anthology of Imaginative Fiction contains twenty-five selections. According to a Publishers Weekly contributor, the anthology includes "a healthy quotient of offbeat efforts." The reviewer noted that most of the stories "are triumphs of mood or narrative trickery over storytelling" and added that "the wealth of relatively new writers featured is encouraging."

Another co-editing project, From the Borderlands also contains twenty-five stories by well-known writers of horror like Stephen King as well as by new authors. Writing on MyShelf.com, a reviewer noted, "These stories are not pure horror, yet all are strange in some respect and have aspects of horror in them. All are unforgettable." The reviewer went on to comment, "If you've never read one of the Borderlands series, this book will quickly make you a fan."

Monteleone also collaborated with Craig Slaight and Jennifer Esty to produce The Smith and Kraus Play Index for Young Actors Grades 6-12. The book includes an index of more than 500 plays appropriate for school children from the elementary grades through high school. In addition to providing information on the plays' authors, styles, and cast requirements, the coauthors include detailed plot summaries and information on how to acquire scripts. Writing in the School Library Journal, Cris Riedel noted the that the index contains "an eclectic mix" of plays and also wrote, "there is much to recommend this title."
