PERSONAL: Born November 13, 1927, in Monaco; immigrated to the United States, 1954; died of melanoma January 11, 2004, in Berkeley Heights, NJ; son of Johan Wilhelm (a hotel owner) and Greta (Lundborg) Klüver; married Olga Adorno (an artist), 1965 (divorced, 1975); married Julie Breyer Martin (an editor and writer), 1983; children: (first marriage) Maja, Kristian Patrik. Education: Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, B.S., 1952; University of California—Berkeley, M.S.E.E., 1955, Ph.D., 1957.
CAREER: University of California, Berkeley, assistant professor of electrical engineering, 1957–58; Bell Telephone Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ, member of technical staff, 1958–68; Experiments in Art and Technology, New York, NY, president, beginning c. 1968. Curator; contributor to exhibitions; public speaker.
