Born October 6, 1966, in Auckland, New Zealand; son of Roger (a professor) and Eleanor (a professor) Horrocks; married Theresa Fleming; children: Louis, Abe. Education: University of Auckland, B.A., 1986.

CAREER:

Full-time comic book artist and writer, 1995—. Visiting professor in the history of comics, Auckland University Continuing Education Program and Elam Summer Art School. Guest lecturer, University of Auckland, Auckland College of Education, Words & Pictures Museum (Northampton, MA), Media Design School, Elam School of Fine Arts, Unitec, and Auckland Institute of Technology. Presenter of conferences, including Media '99, Auckland University; 2000 World Conference on Reading; and Loaded Canons: Discourse & Power in Aotearoa/ New Zealand, Wellington, 2001. Has organized and participated in comics conventions in New Zealand, England, France, and America. AWARDS, HONORS:

Eisner Award for "talent deserving of wider recognition," 2002, for Atlas and Hicksville; two Goodies Awards, Comics Journal, for Hicksville; Pickle was selected as number thirteen in a list of the top 200 comics of all time, The Staros Report. Hicksville and Pickle have received numerous nominations for Ignatz Awards.
