Caroline G. Bott told CA: "Alfred Be-stall (my father's cousin and my godfather) is best known for being the author and illustrator of ‘Rupert Bear’ for the Daily Express for thirty years. When he died, he left me his cottage in Wales, with all his early artwork, notebooks, and diaries. I was privileged to be able to write his biography and to expose his early artwork for Punch, Tatler, and other periodicals of the day, as well as book illustrations and his popular work on ‘Rupert.’"
