SIDELIGHTS:

Robert Baram, who enjoyed a distinguished career as a professor of journalism at Boston University, has written or edited books in a variety of genres. His book Big Business and the Mass Media presents facts and analysis on a subject of political and social interest. In addition, he has written five volumes of poetry. Baram's most recent title is Spiritual Journeys: Twenty-seven Men and Women Share Their Faith Experiences. This book, which Baram edited, presents the spiritual accounts of twenty-seven converts to Catholicism, including Peter Kreeft, Ronda Chervin, Father James Parker, and Professor Paul Vitz.

Baram has also contributed news and political analysis to Boston-area television stations and newspapers. He founded and was executive director of the New England Scholastic Press Association, an organization that annually bestows an award in his name to a school journalism advisor who, according to the New England Scholastic Press Association Web site, contributes "to the cause of ethical, thorough and articulate scholastic journalism in the advisor's school and community" and provides "support for school journalists in all facets of their efforts to present credible and useful material to their audience."
