SIDELIGHTS:

Harold W.G. Allen told CA: "You might say that my writing career started by accident. About to graduate from high school, I was injured in a football game. A proper diagnosis and subsequent cure was not made until some seven years later. During this interval, the question of whether there was life after death became paramount in my mind. I began what was to become a lifelong study of science, religion, and philosophy. Interested in astronomy from an early age, I commenced a course of study in this field, only to be shocked at the incredible bias that existed among professionals in favor of a Big Bang creation cosmology.

"When my paper, ‘A Revised Concept of Radiation Propagation,’ was unjustly rejected for publication on grounds that it contradicted Einstein's theory of relativity, I decided to withdraw and pursue studies on my own. The rejection turned out to be a blessing in disguise. During my research into the problem of how the premise of a ‘purposeful universe’ might be reconciled with biological evolution, I made a series of rather startling discoveries, terminating in a truly revolutionary theory of universal cosmic reincarnation.

"Unable to find a mainstream publisher who could grasp the significance of my discoveries, I was eventually compelled to publish ongoing research under my own imprint of Perspective Books. In The Eternal Universe and, later, Cosmic Perspective, I sought to expose misconceptions in both science and religion. Another book, In Search of Reality, discusses scientific reality (a revolutionary new cosmology linking evolution with cosmic reincarnation), religious reality (an analysis of biblical literature in the light of modern scholarship), and social and economic reality (a study of the social order, with suggestions for a world society).

"Unfortunately, in my case, the path toward widespread recognition is beset by a problem faced by few writers. My research and studies conflict with the views of both a biased scientific establishment and so-called religious authorities. Confronted with this extreme bias, I recently established a nonprofit foundation, the Cosmic Perspective Foundation, in order to make my controversial studies available to the public. In the twilight years of life I feel motivated to make this contribution to society in hope that a lifetime of research and labor will not have been in vain."
