Voisin, Roger (Louis)
Voisin, Roger (Louis), distinguished Frenchborn American trumpeter and teacher; b. Angers, June 26,1918. He was taken to Boston as a child by his family, and became a naturalized American citizen in 1932. He studied initially with his father, a member of the Boston Sym. Orch., then with Georges Mager (1933) and Marcel LaFosse (1934). In 1935 he became 3rdtrumpeter in the Boston Sym. Orch.; after serving as its 1sttrumpeter (1949-67), he was again 3rdtrumpeter from 1967 until his retirement in 1973. He taught at the Berkshire Music Center in Tangle wood, the New England Cons, of Music in Boston, and Boston Univ.
